Podium finish in Gumbo Nationals opener at Greenville Speedway
Friday night found Clay Fisher in action at Greenville Speedway (Greenville, Miss.) as the 17th annual Gumbo Nationals kicked off with Friday’s $5,000-to-win opener.
After topping the 19-car unsanctioned field in time trials to claim the fast time honors, Fisher outran Rick Rickman in his heat race to pick up the 10-lap victory. Rolling off on the pole for the feature, Clay faded two spots in the 30-lapper to register a third-place finish. He trailed Mike Palasini Jr. and Kyle Beard to the checkers with Jarret Stuckey and J.C. Waller rounding out the top-five.
The following night, Clay’s fourth-place finish in his heat race positioned him on the sixth row for the $10,000-to-win Gumbo Nationals finale. He was scored 15th in the final rundown after pulling pitside on lap 20.
